Juan Izaguirre - Jeppesen Scholarship Winner
juancarlosizaguirre

I’m Juan Carlos Izaguirre Funez, an aviator deeply committed to making a lasting impact in the aviation industry. Currently pursuing a degree in Aviation and Aerospace Management with a minor in International Business at Metropolitan State University of Denver, I’ve logged over 33 flight hours and am on track to earn my Private Pilot Certificate. My vision extends beyond flying—while I aim to become a flight dispatcher in the near future, I am also working toward becoming a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and eventually a commercial airline pilot later in my career.

As the Co-Founder and Vice President of the Latino Pilot Association (LPA) at MSU Denver, I’ve taken a leadership role in fostering opportunities for aspiring Latino pilots, creating pathways for the next generation. I also serve as a mentor with LPA, where I guide fellow students through their aviation journeys. Being recently awarded the LPA Private Pilot Scholarship has further empowered me to pursue my passion with purpose.

I’m equally dedicated to mentorship and leadership through my involvement in the MSU Denver Soaring Society (Glider Club) and my volunteer work with both LPA and Women in Aviation. My long-term goal is to create impactful mentorship programs that help underrepresented individuals break into the aviation field, while contributing to the industry's growth and diversity.

Jamari  Myers- North American Dispatch Scholarship Winner!

Jamari Myers

Hello, my name is Jamari Myers, and I'm proud to call Savannah, Georgia my hometown. Since I was a kid, aviation has been my passion. I've always been fascinated by the mechanics of flight, the thrill of takeoff, and the freedom of the open skies. My journey into the world of aviation began in 2019 when I joined American Airlines as a ramp agent. This hands-on experience allowed me to gain a deep understanding of the intricacies of ground operations and fueled my ambition to pursue a career in aviation.

After a while, I worked my way up to becoming an operations agent. In this role, I am involved in coordinating flight schedules, managing logistics, and ensuring smooth operations on the ground. I love doing this because I enjoy the challenging work environment and the responsibility that comes with it.

Looking ahead, my next big goal is to become a dispatcher. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of flight planning, weather patterns, and aircraft performance, and I'm eager to take on this challenge. I'm committed to continuing my upward trajectory in the aviation industry and excited to see where this journey takes me. The thought of playing a vital role in the intricate web of operations that keep the aviation industry soaring fills me with a profound sense of purpose and excitement for the future.
